A Great Thank You from the Father of The Bride

Monday, April 26th, 2010

We got this great thank you email from Shannon’s father, if you didn’t see her wedding please look back about two posts. I think this says it all.

Jim – just a quick note to say WOW!!! – and many thanks to you and your associate for doing such a great job at the wedding in a most unobtrusive manner. I have been at a number of weddings where it seemed to be more about the photography than the blessed event and the bride and groom barely had an opportunity to enjoy the moment and the reception. Just from the short vignette appended, you obviously got some great stuff and captured the spirit, fun, friendship and comeraderie without destroying the flow and enjoyment – that is obviously an art, my friend and I am most appreciative. It means alot to us to have some great memories and pictures of dear friends and family. I heard a lot of great compliments about your service and style from our family and guests – the actual shots are going to knock em out!

Anyhow, just wanted to say thanks. Now I got to go back to work and pay for it all!!
God Bless,

The Get Away Alternatives

It has been found that showering the newly married couple with rice, as part of a wedding tradition is no longer the best selection for several reasons. It has been reported that rice being showered on the couple often remains on the ground causing many birds to be injured or even die because the birds could not digest the rice correctly. Rice is a very hard grain that is difficult to dissolve and as a result it remains on the ground long after the celebration day is over. This can cause potential hazards to people who may slip on rice while enjoying the wedding celebration or after the celebration when the area is not adequately cleaned up. The hard rice has also been found to be a rather forceful substance that can find its way into the eyes or even ears of the guests or the bride and groom. Here are some alternatives to showering or throwing rice on the newly married couple.

Birdseed
Birdseed can be used to shower the bride and groom. Throwing birdseed is an effective alternative to throwing rice. The couple is still able to be showered with the birdseed, it can be handed out to guests in much the same manner as the rice would be, and it can be safely eaten by birds. There would still remain a concern that the birdseed could cause a guest to slip or fall on the seeds that remain on the ground. Birdseed is also found to be rather forceful when thrown at the bride and groom; so it should be tossed or showered rather than directly thrown at the couple or other guests.

1. Get a clean and nice sheet of paper. On the left portion of the paper write down numbers 1 to 10. After that proceed by writing without even thinking about what you will answer, just write down whatever 10 things that will first come to mind in response to this phrase “I love (my lover/partner’s name) for the reason of…” After writing it all set aside your paper.

2. Get another sheet of paper and in there write about all the things that you will promise to your partner, what are the good things you want to bring in with the union of hearts.

Casey and Keith Celebrate

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

I had a wonderful time with Casey and Keith sharing their wedding day and creating unique photographs of their personalities.  I enjoyed the love between them and recording that love.  Their family was great and the wedding party was fun.  Here are some of my favorite photographs.
